My Top 3 books (from the last two months)

As I haven't kept up to date on monthly read reviews and I have read a lot these last few months, I'm going to tell you my top 3 from the ones I have read.

Earthchild - Danielle Lauren

This was a Beta read (which means I was reading it to give feedback to my friend who wrote it), so I can't give anything away yet (if you want to know all about it, please follow my friend Dani on Instagram) but it was fantastic. I can't wait to own a copy of it when it comes out. In the meantime though, check out my review of the prequel Spiritchild and I would again, urge you to read this masterpiece.

It Ends With Us - Colleen Hoover

Blurb: Sometimes it is the one who loves you who hurts you the most.

Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up — she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan — her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

Review: I went into this a bit blind, not knowing what the story was really about and gosh it was heart wrenching. I fell in love with Ryle just like Lily did and with Atlas. It was a hard read and definitely should come with a trigger warning for domestic abuse. But if you can, I would really recommend this.

Someone I Used to Know - Paige Toon

Blurb: So much can change in half a lifetime…

Then

At fifteen, George is the foster brother Leah never asked for. As the angry, troubled boy struggles to come to terms with his circumstances, Leah finds herself getting drawn closer to him.

Theo’s wealthy family have mysteriously pulled him out of boarding school and he’s now enrolled at the local state school with Leah and George. When their worlds collide that summer, the three teenagers form a bond they believe will be unbreakable. But life doesn’t always go to plan...

Now

Shocking news brings Leah back to Yorkshire, baby daughter in tow. But Emilie’s father Theo isn’t with them, and George has unexpectedly returned. After half a lifetime, have they healed the scars of their pasts? Will coming back home set their hearts in a different direction?

Review: Another great Paige Toon book that sucks you in and makes it impossible to put down again. I was desperate to find out what was going to happen and the twist was completely unexpected. Bravo.

A special mention to:

Why Won't My Boobs Grow...And Other Annoyances - Rebecca Garner

Blurb: I swear Connor looks over at me. My heart skips a beat again. I'm not quirky like Ruby, or confident like Cher-why would Connor like me anyways?

Emma Bishop is your typical 14-year-old girl. She's got besties, a major crush, zits (don't use the P-word), an annoying younger sister, an embarrassing mom, and no boobs. Luckily, her best friends Ruby and Cher are there to pull off fun sleepovers, try new makeup trends, deal with bullies, and survive embarrassing interactions with cute boys.

Things change for Emma when Connor finally notices her and wants to be her partner for a science project. As things get serious between Emma and Connor, Cher and Ruby don't react in the way Emma expected or hoped. She never thought she would have to choose between her crush and her friends-all before puberty!

Why Won't My Boobs Grow...and Other Annoyances is a contemporary young adult novel by Rebecca Garner that explores friendship, first love, and self-confidence. This book is a must read if you are wondering who you are (even before your boobs arrive) or if you're a grown-up who loves the nostalgia of a coming-of-age story.

Review: I read this was my writer friend wrote it and honestly it was fantastic. It's not an adult book which I why I didn't include it in my top three but it does deserve a special mention because it is perfect. Emma is lovable and funny, the nostalgia is spot on and it's wonderfully written. If you have a teenager or fancy a trip down memory lane, grab this one too.

Thanks for reading.
