February Goals Review

Am I going to say this every month? Probable. How is it the end of the month already? I'm stuck between thinking it only started yesterday yet what I did in week one feels like I did it three years ago. It's an odd one.

Anyway, with no further ado, a little February goals recap.

1. Complete an online scriptwriting course

I had already found the course I wanted to do, which was online and free. It was put together by the faculty at the University of East Anglia (Here's a link to it) and I completed it in two days. I actually found it super helpful as an overview course and it gave me a lot of information I didn't already have, so I would definitely recommend it.

If you want to know more about my screenwriting experience, check out my other blog post about it here.

2. Edit screenplay

My second goal was to edit the screenplay I first drafted in January. I did three revisions of it in the second week of February and have now put it away to come back to later in the year.

I LOVED writing it and I really believe in the story. I'm still trying to figure out how to write it as a novel as it's quite a complicated story with spoilers depending on the character POV. Anyway, still playing around with that idea. Depending on whether or not I want to turn it into a novel, I may put it up on here for you all to read.

3. Make a list of agents

Ok, so I started this but I couldn't find my Writer's yearbook (have now found it mind) so haven't actually finished. In the meantime, I've come back to a previous project, more on that further down. I'm just in two minds wether or not to send my screenplays off to agents, it appears a lot of agent's will only take on writers who have already had work produced, and the general consensus on the internet is that if you want to make your story hit the big screen, you're better off writing the novel first. I'm going to leave this for now and when I have a bit more time (ha ha) I will come back to this and see what I want to do.

Although it wasn't a goal for this month, I also managed to read through my project novel from 2020 and made a list of edits I wanted to make. I've started & finished those edits so now I'm giving it a rest before I come back to it. Keep an eye out for that on my March goals list.

How did you get on in February?

Sx
